Currently, the industry that continues to experience growth in Ukraine is the IT industry. Despite the war, in 2022 exports of IT services account for 13% of Ukraine's total exports. Ukraine exports more IT services than ore, metals, engineering products or oil. In 2022, 331,000 specialists work in the IT industry in Ukraine.

Kyiv is enjoying good startup momentum, which should be appreciated taking into account the economic and regional situation. Since 2018, Kyiv has jumped no less than 29 positions to favorable conditions for the successful launch of startups and their quality improvement.

According to the StartupBlink Ecosystem 2019 report, Kyiv ranks 34th among 1000 locations as one of the largest startup cities, surpassing the startup ecosystems of Helsinki, Munich and Dublin.

Kyiv is more popular than ever as an attractive location for foreign entrepreneurs, R&D tech giants (e.g. Snapchat, Ring, Boeing, Huawei, Upwork), VCs, accelerators and young talent from across CEE and around the world. Use the Kyiv ecosystem to connect with serial entrepreneurs, IT professionals, alumni startups, innovators, accelerators and any innovative stakeholder.

In 2022, 100 Ukrainian startups applied to participate in the Web Summit, 24 of which were selected. Eight of them will receive additional funds to cover costs. More than 53,000 people, including entrepreneurs, startups and investors, attended the event which was held from 7-10 November.

There are more than 20,000 participating companies, 2,000 startups, 663 speakers, 1,500 investors, 7,000 technology CEOs, sports fashion companies and health companies. In addition, there were around 2,000 journalists covering the event. The Web Summit moved from Dublin to Portugal this year, where the event is expected to generate at least 200 million euros for the Portuguese economy, according to the Lisbon Tourism Association.

One of the hot topics that the Web Summit translated this time was artificial intelligence. Paddy Cosgrave, CEO of Web Summit, said the government must start preparing for a situation where millions of workers see the jobs they are at stake. The event is one of the prestigious in the world of Start-up IT which is the basis for the presenters to claim that IT-based economic growth in Ukraine has experienced very significant growth, even though the country is experiencing an invasion.
