Towards the end of his presentation, Mr. Kefale conveyed 3 basic and concise methods regarding the basic principles of green engineering, namely reduce, reuse and recycle. The 3R method or Reuse, Reduce and Recycle is one of the best ways to manage and deal with various types of plastic waste. The application of this system is also very good for managing waste from various types of plastic from safe to toxic.

Almost everyone can manage waste with the 3R system and it is not uncommon for the things that are produced to be able to generate economic value. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are concepts and steps to manage waste properly.

1. Reduce

Reduce itself means reducing waste. The purpose of this step is to reduce the use of products that later have the potential to become waste.

This step can be done and applied to waste or single-use products, such as plastic shopping bags that have been banned or something like that. Products that are the main target for reduction are products made from plastic.

This stage is also the first as well as a priority because if you reduce single-use waste products, then you don't need to go to the next stage, namely reuse and recycle.

The use of goods that are difficult to recycle will also become a new problem, so it's no wonder that reduction is highly promoted as the right first step.

An example of implementing reduction measures is bringing your own drinking bottles or cutlery so you don't have to use a variety of disposable cutlery and drinking utensils.

2. Reuse

The second step or stage is Reuse which means using again. This stage invites to reuse products that have been used. By reusing it, the waste that arises from these products can be reduced.

One way or step is to use used drinking water bottles as small plant pots. Or use cans of biscuits to snacks as storage boxes at home.

Another step to reuse is to use a body wash or shampoo bottle and fill it up by buying a product refill.

With the reuse method, of course the spread of purchased plastic waste can be reduced and reused as usual.

3. Recycle

The final stage of the 3R concept is Recycle which means recycling. This step is the most widely used considering that there is already a lot of waste scattered in various locations such as the sea, land and air.

Used or recycled products themselves are actually more flexible, often even having economic value. Utilizing unused waste so that it has value without polluting the environment can drastically reduce the spread of plastic waste.

The products that are recycled have a unique design and are very different from new types of products. Some parties even make accessories from recycled equipment that can be useful for boosting the local environmental economy. The responsibility for carrying out the 3R concept can also be carried out by the company or household.

The STEKOM University international webinar presenter who delivered the material was Kefale Kebie Bishaw who has an M.Sc academic degree in Structural Engineering. He is also a lecturer and researcher at Debre Tabor University which is located in the city of Debre Tabor, Country of Ethiopia. STEKOM University has collaborated with the University several times. This time the international activity being held was an international webinar entitled "Advantage of Green Engineering".

The title of the presentation delivered by Mr. Kefale was "Advantage of Green Engineering / Technology". At the beginning of his presentation, Mr. Kefale explained the outline of his presentation. The outline presented by Mr. Kefale included the following points:
- What is Green Engineering?
- Green Engineering Category,
- Green Engineering Push Factor Pen,
- Benefits and Some Limitations,
- Conclusions and recommendations.

The webinar activity is part of the implementation of STEKOM University's commitment to increase various international activities in order to realize the vision to become an international-class university. Various international activities carried out by STEKOM University continue from year to year. There are international activities that are sustainable and there are also some international activities that are not sustainable. All types of activities are accommodated internationally and regulated by the International department of STEKOM University.
