Japan is an industrial country that has long been known to the world. Japan's industrialization makes this country the most developed economy in Asia, even in the whole world. In the field of information and communication technology (ICT), Japan is also one of the industrial countries that is very innovative and advanced in its use.
Since the Meiji era, this sakura country has focused more on applying technology to industry. This creates product innovations that are one step ahead compared to other countries. Appropriate technology makes the country more advanced and superior compared to other countries in Asia.
The development of this technology makes it easier for the cherry country to produce many products. Thus, it is natural that Japanese products dominate the world market because of this technology. Not only applied to the product but part of the process of making the product it makes.
In terms of individual professionalism, the principles of work culture in Japan always apply professional work within the scope of the company or like Horenso. These principles are always implemented in the scope of work culture in Japan. Thus, forming an integrated Japanese enterprise system.
Implementing a professional work culture in every company, making the company comfortable for workers to grow, so that it will create loyal employees. This makes the development of the company, especially in the manufacturing sector, able to compete with other developed countries, due to the management of human resources in the company.
Therefore, it will be very relevant if we study ICT in Human Resource Development from Japan. STEKOM University through the International Department has held an international webinar entitled "adapt to information based career in 2021" in 2021. One of the speakers in this webinar is a resource person from Japan, namely Shusei Kudo from Ishinomaki Senshu University. He delivered material on "ICT Human Resource Development for New Business Model".
The list of contents presented by Shuhei is an ICT-based business model, The use of robots for business in Japan, The academia-industrial project at Ishinomaki Senshu University, and Conclusions.
In his first explanation of an IT-based business model, Shuhei cites a reference that says “A model describes how an organization creates, delivers, and captures value. (Osterwalder and Pigneur, 2010, p.14.)”. Then he explained that “A business model can be defined as a system for increasing the value of products and services”.
Shuhei then explained that to increase the new added value for the company's business, the company must increase customer satisfaction and/or reduce costs to increase the value of its products and services. The explanation is based on the mathematical formulation that has been described previously.
Next, Shuhei explained about the ICT-based business model. According to him, ICT has become an important tool to support or activate new business models. Where, customer satisfaction can be increased by utilizing ICT. Likewise with product costs, product and service costs can be reduced by utilizing ICT. Many facts show that various new business models have been created with the development of ICT.
Shuhei then explained with the example of the company Amazon Go. Amazon.com is a leading e-commerce business that has been discovered by a new type of convenience store called Amazon Go. The business was the first store to open in 2018 in Seattle in the United States. With ICT Amazon Go does not have a cash register, cashier, and POS (Point Of Sale).
There are many conveniences that can be obtained by customers and companies by utilizing ICT as is done by the Amazon Go company. The company's sales capacity and reach can also be handled better without consuming more time and resources than conventional business systems. Security and customer satisfaction can also be served well by the company. Likewise with data management and business analysis, this company is easier to manage data and analyze company developments faster, more precisely, and many other advantages.
After explaining the example of the amazon go company, then Shuhei explained about the origin of the ICT-based business model. According to Shuhei, the origin of the ICT-based business model is that a new ICT-based business model began to emerge in the 1980s. ICT or information systems that support/enable new business models are called “Strategic Information Systems (SIS)” or “Strategic Use of Information Technology”. Classic examples of SIS in the 1980s are American Airlines' SABER, American Hospital Supply ASAP, Japan's Seven-Eleven POS System, NEKO Yamato Transport System.
