Technological developments and environmental preservation today can be likened to two sides of a knife. On the one hand, the rapid development of technology provides many benefits for humans. However, on the other hand, technology also has a negative impact on environmental preservation.
For example, now many factories with high technology carry out industrial processes to produce various products needed by society. Unfortunately, not all factories have concern for the environment. There are still many people who dispose of waste carelessly, causing environmental pollution. As a result, if awareness of the environment is not provoked, technological advances can indeed destroy the earth. Therefore, campaigns about green technology or environmentally friendly technologies are now starting to bloom. Especially for academics who will become the next generation, if they understand well about the ins and outs of green technology, they will be more prepared to adopt the engineered type in their workplaces.
To understand green engineering, we must understand technology and various related things. The word "technology" can also be used to refer to the selection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in achieving goals, such as scientific investigations. Technology can be the knowledge of how to combine resources to produce a desired product, to solve problems, fulfill needs, satisfy wants.
Green technology is one type of environmentally friendly technology. This technology can be used to carry out industrial activity processes without causing serious problems for environmental preservation. In recent times, the issue of green technology has been increasingly being discussed and considered to be a solution to address environmental problems. Therefore, the use of this technology in various industrial processes needs to be further improved.
In general, the benefit of green technology is to ensure that the existence of technology can be further developed, but still in line with environmental preservation activities. In particular, there are several things that can be changed after taking advantage of green technology. Examples are air and water conditions. In industrial convention processes, production activities can cause air and water pollution. Then, with green technology, various pollution can be minimized.
Air that has become polluted, can return pure. Pollution to scarcity of clean water can be handled, and various other environmental damages can be repaired. In conclusion, the development of green technology can provide various benefits for the environment, especially in an effort to increase protection for the earth so that its condition is not increasingly apprehensive. Therefore STEKOM university students are encouraged to understand the problems as well as the opportunities that exist in green engineering. The hope is that STEKOM students will be ready to face the engineered trend later.
The presenter who delivered the material was Mr. Wibi Ardi Alvianto. Mr. wibi is a STEKOM university lecturer in the Graphic Design study program. The title of the material presented was "Advantages and Disadvantages of Green Engineering". As one of the options in technological engineering, of course this type of engineering has both advantages and disadvantages. By understanding these two issues, we will be able to decide and anticipate correctly if we decide to use green engineering in our projects.
The webinar activity is part of the implementation of STEKOM University's commitment to increase various international activities in order to realize the vision to become an international-class university. Various international activities carried out by STEKOM University continue from year to year. There are international activities that are sustainable and there are also some international activities that are not sustainable. All types of activities are accommodated internationally and regulated by the International department of STEKOM University.
