The application of green technology can be done in various fields. The following are various efforts that can be made to implement green technology, both in everyday life and in the work environment. Considering that the concept of green technology for life and the industrial world is not much different, the following behaviors can be applied to various fields.
1. Using Energy Wisely
You must know that excessive use of energy can cause various negative impacts, one of which is global warming. Well, one way to avoid this is to be wise in using energy.
For example, unplugging the charger from the wall socket after not using it, turning off the lights during the day, using enough water, and other things. Even though it looks simple, it will provide various benefits—both for ourselves and the environment, if implemented properly.
2. Using Environmentally Friendly Products
Another application of green technology is to build habits to use environmentally friendly products. In everyday life, for example, when shopping we can bring our own shopping bags instead of asking for plastic.
In the industrial world, we can choose environmentally friendly hardware products to carry out production activities. These products have a special mark, namely in the form of an energy star sticker. This shows that the product is able to manage energy use properly and fairly.
3. Recycle
The activity of recycling something, in everyday life as well as in industry, needs to be done so that there are no leftover items that are thrown away for nothing. For example, for various electronic devices that are no longer used, they can be processed into something that can be reused.
Don't just throw it away, and make it status as electronic waste. This, over time can cause environmental pollution to radiation. Of course, this behavior is very contrary to the concept of green technology.
4. Switch to Digital Technology
There are many products that in the manufacturing process require a lot of utilization of natural resources. For example, books. The paper used to print books comes from trees that have been processed.
If trees continue to be cut down, of course this poses a threat of environmental damage. Therefore, digital technology can be an alternative to overcome this problem. The existence of printed books can be converted into digital books or ebooks.
Likewise with other things that allow us to change manual technology to digital. An example is the use of digital storage media or cloud computing to minimize the use of storage media hardware. Even though it looks simple, small things like this are a good start.
From the explanation above, it can be seen that the application of digital technology is one option that is very environmentally friendly. With the application of digital technology, the use of hardware and other physical materials can be significantly reduced. If the use of physical materials can be reduced properly, then automatically savings in physical materials can be reduced, even eliminated such as the use of paper because there is no need for physical printing.
The presenter who delivered the material was Mr. Wibi Ardi Alvianto. Mr. wibi is a STEKOM university lecturer in the Graphic Design study program. The title of the material presented was "The adavantage and disadvantage of green engineering". As one of the options in technological engineering, of course this type of engineering has both advantages and disadvantages. By understanding these two issues, we will be able to decide and anticipate correctly if we decide to use green engineering in our projects.
The webinar activity is part of the implementation of STEKOM University's commitment to increase various international activities in order to realize the vision to become an international-class university. Various international activities carried out by STEKOM University continue from year to year. There are international activities that are sustainable and there are also some international activities that are not sustainable. All types of international activities are accommodated and regulated by the International department of STEKOM University.
