Mr. Tsotne from Georgia University of Business and Technology in a guest lecture on 07 June 2022 at STEKOM University further explained about the model of stacked trust. The topmost pile of trust is belief in an idea. The trust underneath is trust in the platform or company. And the lowest level of trust is trust in individuals or users of the company's products.
This activity is part of the implementation of STEKOM University's commitment to increase various international activities in order to realize the vision to become an international class university. Various international activities carried out by STEKOM University continue from year to year. There are sustainable international activities and there are also some unsustainable international activities. All kinds of international activities are accommodated and regulated by the International department of STEKOM University.
In the guest lecture, Mr. Tsotne delivered lecture materials on how to build trust in digital platforms. At the beginning of his introduction, Mr. Tsotne said that his name was quite strange for people outside Georgia, because the spelling was difficult to pronounce. He also displays the approximate distance between the city of Semarang to Georgia, which is around 8,500 kilometers. As a friendly gesture, Mr. Tsotne also gave light questions to the participants. Is Georgia included in Europe or not? Tsotne asked. In his explanation, Georgia is sometimes mentioned in the European region, sometimes mentioned in the Asian region, or sometimes mentioned in the Caucasus region.
Trust is an individual's belief in the goodness of other individuals or groups in carrying out their duties and obligations for the common good. Belief in ideas is one of the most important things in the construction of a belief system in general. If an idea gets a good portion of trust in the community or organization, then the idea can be executed well. On the other hand, if an idea does not get good trust from its environment, then the idea will not get a good chance to be executed. So it becomes very important to build confidence in an idea, one of which is to present proof that these ideas have had a lot of success in the past or in the future.
Trust has long given individuals, institutions and companies the ability to dominate conversations, realize their vision and mission, and maximize their business. However, the characteristics of trust are changing globally in the era of the digital economy. We also deposit capital to invest in a company that we have never visited, through an online trading application made by a company that we have never visited either. Public trust is turning to digital platforms and the technology behind them. To determine it, we need a new strategy to develop and build effectively to win the competition in the digital era. Therefore, trust in the company today is an important foundation in order to build the trust system needed in business.
The last trust stack is the trust user. For businesses it is important to users and maintain their trust. Not an easy situation. It takes building integrity and trust in several areas to earn users' trust. Maybe the business can start paying attention to some areas to focus on building trust from there.
The first area is the company. If it's a startup then focus on the business. Users will feel valued and trusted if they feel close to a company or business they trust, where they pay for what they have to offer. find out how the company is positioned, how many users, what the demographics are, and what the company has promised.
The next area is experience. This is with business experience, about the reason why a product exists, what problem it is trying to solve, and what the company believes in it. Share it with users, they deserve to know. Trying to build an approach and attachment by understanding each other.
The next area is products. Of course this has to do with technical. How the features work. How services can make work easy, work well, and without errors or errors. Make sure if the existing features are built as well as possible according to the needs and expectations.
In addition, user trust can also be achieved, maintained and increased by showing consistency in several ways. For example, by continuing to provide transparent services, both in terms of prices and services. Sorry if something causes harm to users, resolve the issue immediately and don't forget to ask for feedback in the form of criticism and suggestions to increase user engagement with the business. Staying consistent in providing excellent service to customers can also be another thing that affects user trust.
At its core integrity and credibility with a focus on the quality of business and services provided. Then the focus is continued on the user. From how we treat users to understanding every need and what users want.
