Green engineering is the design, commercialization and use of processes and products in a way that reduces pollution, promotes sustainability and minimizes risks to human health and the environment without compromising economic viability and efficiency. Environmentally sound engineering adheres to the concept that decisions to protect human health and the environment can have the greatest impact and cost-effectiveness when implemented early, in the design and development phase of a process or product.

There are several definitions of "Green engineering" that need attention. The following are things that need to be considered in understanding green engineering.

- The term "Technique" refers to the application of knowledge for practical purposes to solve problems.

- Green Engineering is the use of science in the design, manufacture, commercialization, and use of processes, products, equipment, and systems in ways that:
Reducing pollution generated by the construction or operation of facilities,

Preserving the environment and natural resources,
Minimize and reduce the negative impact of human activities,

Promote sustainability, and increase the use of materials and energy throughout the life cycle of products and processes,
  * Maintaining efficiency and economic viability.

- Some people call Green Engineering as Environmental engineering and clean technology.

- The main target of Green Engineering is to meet the needs of society in a way that does not consume or damage the earth's natural resources and also human health by producing products that are environmentally friendly.

- Mainly it puts emphasis on:
  - Innovate and improve existing concepts
  - Changing production and consumption patterns to reduce pollution
  - Creating holistic and reusable products
  - Utilize innovative techniques to produce environmentally friendly products a

Green engineering approaches the design of products and processes by applying financially and technologically feasible principles to achieve one or more of the following objectives: (1) reduction of the amount of pollution generated by the construction or operation of facilities, (2) minimization of the exposure of the human population to potential hazards (including reducing toxicity), (3) increasing the use of materials and energy throughout the life cycle of products and processes, and (4) maintaining efficiency and economic feasibility. Green engineering can be an overarching framework for all design disciplines.

The STEKOM University international webinar presenter who delivered the material was Kefale Kebie Bishaw who has an M.Sc academic degree in Structural Engineering. He is also a lecturer and researcher at Debre Tabor University which is located in the city of Debre Tabor, Country of Ethiopia. STEKOM University has collaborated with the University several times. This time the international activity being held was an international webinar entitled "Advantage of Green Engineering".

The title of the presentation delivered by Mr. Kefale was "Advantage of Green Engineering / Technology". At the beginning of his presentation, Mr. Kefale explained the outline of his presentation. The outline presented by Mr. Kefale included the following points:
- What is Green Engineering?
- Green Engineering Category,
- Green Engineering Driving Factors,
- Benefits and Some Limitations,
- Conclusions and recommendations.

The webinar activity is part of the implementation of STEKOM University's commitment to increase various international activities in order to realize the vision to become an international-class university. Various international activities carried out by STEKOM University continue from year to year. There are international activities that are sustainable and there are also some international activities that are not sustainable. All types of international activities are accommodated and regulated by the International department of STEKOM University.
