In the previous part of the presentation by Dr. Nisrin Alyani Ishak, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business, Accounting and Social Sciences, we have discussed some examples of companies that are actively implementing social co-creation with their customers and consumers. Starbucks Ideas, Lego Ideas, and various other platforms have been revealed as examples of companies that allow consumers to participate in the creative process.
However, to achieve success in implementing social co-creation, there are concrete steps that companies need to follow. Dr. Nisrin explained some of these steps in his presentation:
1. Set Clear Objectives: First of all, companies need to have well-defined goals and objectives in involving customers and consumers in the creative process. This allows all parties to understand why this collaboration is important.
2. Identify the Parties Involved: The company must identify who will be involved in this process. This could involve customers, consumers, designers, engineers, and various other parties according to the nature of the company.
3. Create a Collaborative Environment: Companies need to create an environment that supports collaboration. This could mean organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops to encourage everyone to participate.
4. Facilitate Idea Generation: Companies need to be prepared to manage a lot of incoming ideas. They should provide equal opportunities for everyone to participate in these creative activities.
5. Prioritize Ideas: With so many ideas that may come up, companies must have a way to prioritize the ideas that will be pursued further. This could involve assessment by employees or upper management.
6. Test Product Prototypes: Before developing a final product, companies can try out simple product prototypes to gauge market interest.
7. Develop Solutions Collaboratively: After getting feedback, companies should collaborate with customers and consumers to develop solutions together.
8. Implementation and Evaluation: The final process is to implement the developed solution and evaluate its success.
This process requires significant time and resources, but if done correctly, can result in a product or service that is much better and more in line with customer needs. Companies must commit to continuously engaging with their customers during this entire process, so that ideas can become meaningful realities.
In the next part of this presentation, we will discuss the benefits and challenges associated with social collaboration and how companies can overcome obstacles that may arise in this process.
