On September 19, 2023, STEKOM University held a seminar titled "How to Start a Business Without Investors." The seminar featured several prominent speakers who shared their experiences and insights on starting a business without relying on investors. One of the keynote speakers was Ram Sundar, Global Director & Founder of HebeSec, India. This is the first part of the article covering Ram Sundar's presentation at the seminar.

Before starting the session, Ram Sundar thanked the organizers and seminar participants for the invitation and opportunity. He also announced that this seminar provides an opportunity for students and other participants to submit their business ideas. HebeSec will give a prize of 50,000 Indonesian rupiah to the selected business idea. They can submit their business ideas by scanning the QR code provided.

Ram Sundar then started his presentation by talking about his personal experience. He is an entrepreneur who started the pbsec Technologies organization at the age of 21 without any support from investors or any other help. He also created HebeSec Academy and became a partner in Way to Grow Hydrophonics, an IoT-based company. He explains that his business is related to global cybersecurity and skills-based training services in the field of cybersecurity.

Ram Sundar shares important steps to consider when starting your own business:

    1. Keep Working: Keep working at your current job before your business grows. This gives you the financial stability needed to grow your business without financial stress.
    2. Start a Side Project: While you are still working, you can start a side project related to your business idea. This allows you to test your concept before committing fully.
    3. Share What You Create: Find the right people who can help you grow your business. Don't share your ideas with everyone, but only with people who can understand and support your vision.
    4. Focus on Solutions, Not Problems: Identify a problem that exists in your community or market, and find a way to offer an innovative solution.
    5. Don't Just Look for Profit: When starting a business, don't just focus on financial gain. It is more important to build a product or service that meets the needs of customers and earns their trust.

Ram Sundar also emphasizes the importance of slowly building your business. Focus on profitability and expanding gradually rather than trying to grow too fast. He also highlighted the importance of learning from failures and staying calm when facing problems.

The seminar provided valuable insights on how to start a business without investors and provided inspiration for those who want to become self-employed. This article is the first part of the coverage of the seminar.
