On Monday, June 26, 2023, STEKOM University held an online seminar with the theme "Why We Need Engineers Now More Than Ever." The event served as a platform to discuss the important role of engineers in addressing global challenges. One of the speakers who delivered a presentation in this seminar was Wibi Ardi Alvianto M.Pd., Director of Student Affairs & Lecturer of Visual Communication Design Dept from STEKOM, Indonesia.

The event, hosted by MC Novita from STEKOM University's International Affairs, was attended by a number of prominent speakers, including:

1. Dr. Fuad Baghirov (Senior Lecturer in Economy Field) from WCU, Azerbaijan.

2. Engineer Md. Safaet Hossain (Additional Director, IQAC and Head Dept of Comp Science & Engineering) from CU, Bangladesh.

3. Wibi Ardi Alvianto M.Pd. (Director of Student Affairs & Lecturer of Visual Communication Design Dept) from STEKOM, Indonesia.

**Script of Presentation Wibi Ardi Alvianto M,Pd.**

In his presentation, Wibi Ardi Alvianto M,Pd. opened his remarks by conveying greetings to all participants from Indonesia. He shared his presentation material that discussed the definition, duties, and skills of an engineer as well as its relevance in today's world.

Wibi explained that becoming an engineer is not just enough to graduate and get an engineering degree. There are certain stages that must be followed, including joining a professional engineer program to obtain a professional engineer certificate.

He explained that engineers have three main tasks: creating new technologies, having social responsibility, and developing new solutions. In addition, Wibi outlined some of the skills that an engineer should have, including up-to-date technical knowledge, communication skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, creativity, and attention to detail.

Furthermore, Wibi explained the roles and responsibilities of civil engineers. They are responsible for developing projects related to society, such as bridges, airports, or water storage systems. Technical skills, project management, communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail are key to the success of a civil engineer.

In his conclusion, Wibi stated that engineers have a very important role in project design and implementation, and that social responsibility and certain skills are indispensable in this profession.

The seminar provided an invaluable discussion platform to understand how important the role of engineers is in facing today's challenges. STEKOM University continues to be committed to becoming a center for the development of relevant science and technology to meet the demands of the times.
